Abstract

Kata kunci: Arsitektur sunda, Goa pawon, Neo vernakular, Wisata edukasi AbstractAlong with the times, the current generation tends to be less and less interested in getting to know the indigenous culture of the region in Indonesia. This phenomenon has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has significantly impacted the decline in visits to cultural tourism sites because they were forced to be temporarily closed or restrictions imposed on the number of visitors. With foreign influences on lifestyles, the perspective on the importance of historical values also fades. UNESCO states that from the rare historical heritage in the archaeological site of Goa Pawon, West Bandung Regency, the area is worthy of being used as a nature reserve, so it has the potential to be processed as an informative and interesting tourist spot. Through qualitative descriptive analysis, the design process of the Pawon Historical Area educational tourism area applies the neo-vernacular Sundanese theme, with the main building as a museum containing a showroom, library, pottery workshop, and visitor center. The design concept of the site and the entire building of this tourist area refers to the customs and philosophy of Sundanese architecture in Tonggoh Village but is completed with modern materials and construction, including a touch of technology in the facilities for visitors in the museum and library showrooms. Based on its important function, it is hoped that the Pawon Historical Area can support the preservation of Sundanese indigenous culture and become a model for planning other educational tourism areas in Indonesia. Keywords: Sundanese architecture, Pawon cave, Neo vernacular, Educational tourism
