Abstract

All optical ternary 3:1 multiplexer and 1:3 demultiplexer circuits are proposed and explained using polarization rotation switch (PRS) in micro ring resonator (MRR). Ternary logic (radix=3) states are defined by the logic-0 (Low), logic-1 (Intermediate) and logic-2 (High) with different polarization states. Polarization rotation based ternary 3:1 multiplexer and 1:3 demultiplexer have been accomplished by exploiting the concept of the ternary AND or ternary MIN gate. The performance of scheme are analyzed by Stokes parameter (S1,S2,S3) and Jones matrix (ellipticity and azimuth in angle) in INTERCONNECT simulation software.
