Abstract
An extension of the impedance boundary method of moments (IBMOM) which enables determination of the propagation characteristics of lossy and leaky planar dielectric waveguides is demonstrated. The use of extended impedance boundary conditions to facilitate the analysis of waveguiding structures with large stepwise changes in refractive index, such as ARROW structures, is discussed. Numerical results show excellent agreement between previously published data and those generated using the complex version of the IBMOM.
