Abstract

This paper presents impacts of distributed generation (DG) on voltage sag assessment in distribution systems. Voltage sag assessment is analyzed by using the method of fault positions in order to determine area of vulnerability (AOV), voltage sag frequency and voltage sags index such as System Average RMS Variation Frequency Index (SARFI). Impacts of DG's locations, sizes, operation modes and transformer connections are investigated. Simulation results of various case studies on Roy Billinton Test System (RBTS bus 2) are summarized. Results show that the system with DG installed has better voltage sag performance than the system without DG installation.
