Abstract

The small molecule 5 hydroxytryptamine or serotonin (5-HT) is best known as a neurotransmitter, yet it has many other functions. 5-HT has been found in many areas of the body and plays a role in many physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms. The 5-HT 1B receptor, currently a pharmacological target for treating migraines and cluster headaches, has been heavily studied, and its 3D structure is known, apart from its intrinsically disordered N-terminus, which was thought to be non-contributing to the ligand's action.
