Abstract

FACTS controllers incorporating energy storage device has the ability to operate in all the four quadrants and thereby increases the operational flexibility. In this work, the influence of SSSC supported by Energy Storage (SSSC-ES) on subsynchronous resonance (SSR), in a system provided with fixed series compensation is studied. Effect of SSSC-ES injecting constant real and reactive voltage into the network is analyzed. The sample system is adapted from IEEE FBM and the SSR analysis is carried out using bifurcation technique. Validation of results is done using eigenvalue and transient analysis.
