Abstract

This paper effort on analysis of Sub Synchronous resonance (SSR). SSR can be effectively analyzed by Eigenvalue analysis. Eigenvalue analysis is done by taking the linearized model of the system. The mechanical turbine-generator which is integrated with an electrical system is modelled, based on IEEE First Benchmark Model (FBM). The different values of Eigenvalues give different level of compensation for the electrical system and it is calculated and compared with the torsional mode appearances in the mechanical system. The frequencies of oscillation and the damping of each frequency are observed from the given Eigenvalues.
