Abstract
Grid-tied voltage source converters (VSC) are the essential component in the integration of renewable energy sources (RES). As the RES are the need of present as well as the future generation, the role of VSC has become critical in the operation and control of modern and smart power grids. For the sake of reliability, as well as an economic point of view, these VSC require to work in coordination which necessitates communication link (which connects the sensors and controllers) to interconnect the VSC. However, with distributed control philosophy, control of VSC become vulnerable to cyber-attack, especially sensor attack. In this work, a few scenarios of cyber-attack on the control parameters of VSC and their impact on their performance are simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment and results are presented.
