Abstract

In recent years, the battery energy storage system (BESS) has been considered as a promising solution for mitigating wind turbine generator intermittencies. This study investigates the power flow operation in a three-phase unbalanced radial distribution network to regulate the wind production with energy storage facility. The backward forward sweep algorithm is implemented on 37-bus unbalanced radial distribution network (URDN) considering sporadic wind production which is supported by battery energy storage to overcome the power shortfall. This paper presents power loss & the voltage improvement benefits for wind integration with energy storage system in a three- phase URDN by choosing best location and right amount of penetration.
