Abstract
Situated in the center of the continental United States, vast wind resources and interstate transmission capacity have made Kansas a leading exporter of wind energy. However, public reactions to commercial scale wind power production have varied considerably across the state, inspiring a mixture of enthusiasm and opposition. Using a comparative case study design, we examine how geographic, political, and economic factors collide to produce distinct impacts of wind energy development in Kansas.
