Abstract
ABSTRACT The aim of the article is to show the argumentative value of various variants of proper name, i.e., names, toponyms, nicknames used in the anti-Semitic discourse, which arose around the performance activity of Dieudonné and Rafał Betlejewski. The analysis of examples taken from the Polish and French bilingual corps leads to the establishment of certain universal argumentation patterns (e.g., rhetorical reinforcement, various ways of discrediting, creating a media image through pseudonymizing and delocutive derivation processes). Interaction participants use proper names and their derivatives not only to express emotions or for ludic purposes, but above all to convey a specific system of values. Proper noun derivatives are often formal exponents of the linguistic image of the world; they are also individual, occasional linguistic realisations resulting from short-term argumentation goals.
