Abstract

Regulation of the female reproductive system is one of the most relevant actions of thyroid hormones. Adequate production of thyroid hormones is essential for normal menstrual function and fertility, and for the successful maintenance of a pregnancy. Research objectives: determination of immunologic thyroiditis in women of reproductive age and clinical manifestations. Research methods: a literature review on immunologic thyroiditis in women of reproductive age was carried out. Conclusions: Women seeking medical help should be screened for infertility for thyroid dysfunction and autoimmunity. Treatment should be based on recommendations, and on an individual clinical assessment of the cause of infertility, as well as the woman’s obstetric history.
