Abstract

A patient with lichen myxedematosus of 13 years' duration has experienced stabilization or regression of the disease. The long duration of clinical well-being suggests that this patient is not suffering from a variant of multiple myeloma. Serum protein studies reveal an abnormal serum protein in the γ-globulin region. Immunoglobulin IgA levels in serum are abnormally high. Circulating antibody responses after immunization with Vi and brucellin antigens and delayed hypersensitivity responses in this patient are apparently normal.
