Abstract
Immobilization of whole yeast cells (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) in calcium alginate is well known. The present work describes the feasibility of gel entrapment of whole cell yeast using strontium, barium, calcium–strontium, calcium–barium and strontium–barium alginates.
