Abstract

Objective To study the imaging characteristics and pathological basis of the central neurocytoma. Methods Imaging and pathological characteristics of 23 cases confirmed pathologically were analyzed retrospectively and the relationship of them were researched. Results Central neurocytoma were located in the anterior 2/3 of the lateral ventricle, close to the septum pellucidum or monro' s foramen.Plain CT scan shows isodense or higher-density and frequently show calcifications.MRI features were as follows:equal, slightly low singal on T1WI,equil or slightly higher signal on T2WI.Many sacculiform shadow and reticular shadow adhered to lateral ventricle in tumor edge, blood vessel shadow and marked inhomogeneous enhancement.Tumors were gray-red,tenacious or soft nature, abundane blood transportion. The lesions were associated with hemorrhage, cyst and alcification. The same cell shape, small and round cell nucleus can be found by light miroscope. The synapsin and specific enolase were masculine on immunohistochemistry. Conclusions Central neurocytoma imaging characteristics have specificity. The pathological basis contributes to the imaging characteristics.
