Abstract

S ONOGRAPHY is the primary imaging modality for assessment of patients presenting with obstetric or gynecologic emergencies. Computed tomography (CT) also has a role in certain clinical scenarios. Pelvic pain, vaginal discharge, or vaginal bleeding are the most common presentations. The differential diagnosis is broad for the presenting symptom complex. Using the clinical history, laboratory data, physical examination, and imaging findings, one can better delineate the origin and exclude mimics of obstetric and gynecologic emergencies presenting with pelvic signs and symptoms.
