Abstract
There are many optical methods for extracting the geometric information of an object from an image. The structured light method based on digital fringe projection is widely employed. Sometimes the fringe patterns have some undesired invalid areas due to drastic surface profile changes of the tested object, or geometric discontinuities. In addition, a large projection angle affects the quality of the acquired data. These invalid areas may introduce difficulties for further processing. We propose to combine image fusion methods and a typical structured light system to alleviate the shadow problems created by a single projector.
