Abstract
We present the use of a anatomical landmarks in the registration of PET and MR brain images. The interhemispheric fissure, a surface landmark, is segmented automatically. Further segmentation could be used in building a knowledge base system. Each registration method has its advantages and disadvantages in terms of ease of use, and precision, depending on the images and the organ of concern. The resulting registered data sets are complex and special methods for their visualization have been developed based on the sensitivity of the human visual system to motion and dynamical changes.
