Abstract
An image instrumentation system was introduced for quantitative analysis of the rapid changes in intensity of chlorophyll fluorescence during dark-light transitions, which are sensitive indicators of various reactions of photosynthesis. This system provides information not only on localized differences in photosynthetic activity of the whole leaf in situ, but also on the inhibition site under various conditions. Using this system we analyzed the effects of slight water deficit on photosynthesis of attached leaves. Spatial differences in the inhibition of photochemical reactions on the leaf was shown. This system is useful for the analytical diagnosis of various stress-actions on plants in situ.
