Abstract

Cape Town is no stranger to grandiose views and modern development. After all, the City Bowl area is the only place in the world to view a devil and a lion seated across a table from one another—Devil's Peak to the east and Lion's Head to the west are set apart by the two miles of leveled plateau known as Table Mountain. This mountainous cradle is both a physically and metaphorically striking snapshot. The Devil, signifying chaos, darkness, and ego, balanced on a scale with the authority, wisdom, and courage of the lion.
