Abstract

As my last message in 2010, I would like to highlight several aspects that show the good health of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) during this year. First, I would like to point out that our publications have continued an upward trend as the most important source of references in our field of interest. For example, our IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, with an impact factor (IF) of 4,678, is the first to be cited in the automation and control systems category. Also, IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine has been included in the Science Citation Index, showing a promising IF of 1.75 and has been classified in the first quartile of the engineering, electrical, and electronic category. Further, our conferences attendance was excellent, and the mean acceptance rate was below 60% with a mean number of reviewers close to three per paper. Our Society membership has grown more than 12% with a worldwide distribution in 106 countries.
