Abstract
The IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society will award up to ten undergraduate scholarships of $1000 and five graduate fellowships of $2500 each year. These awards are made to encourage and motivate promising undergraduate or graduate students to pursue a career and/or graduate program in electromagnetics (or closely related fields) by providing funds to support project work directed by a faculty member. Eligibilig Undergraduate or graduate students in electrical engineering or related field. Undergraduates must have taken at least one electromagnetics course. Graduate students must have a curriculum with significant EM depth. Must show strong interest in a career or graduate education in electromagnetics, microwaves, antenna engineering, RF engineering, or a closely related area. Students doing or planning to do research or a project related to EM will receive preference. Endorsement of a university/college faculty member who is a member of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. Previous winners will not be eligible for a second award. Awardees are expected to provide a short report describing the outcomes of their project one year after receiving their funds. Selection Criteria (a) Merit of the candidate's proposal. (b) Academic merit of the candidate. (c) Recommendation of faculty advisor (who is a member of IEEE AP Society). The primary criterion will be how well the proposed project serves to introduce, prepare, and encourage the student to undertake a career and/or graduate study in electromagnetics or related areas. Research or senior projects in electromagnetics with potential student pnblication/presentation in a conference or journal are preferred. Students are encouraged to consult and work closely with a faculty member while preparing their proposals. Successful candidates will be announced and will receive the award within sixty days of announcement. Application Material: 1) A cover sheet with the complete contact information for the student and faculty advisor. Specify GRADUATE or UNDERGRADUATE standing. 2) A current transcript showing all courses taken and grades. Graduate students should include both undergraduate and graduate transcripts. 3) A one-page curriculum vita or resume. 4) A two-page description of the proposed project (proposal). The applicant should include one paragraph that describes how the scholarship support and project will impact the applicant's decision to pursue a career and/or graduate study in a field related to electromagnetics.
