Abstract
The IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society will award up to ten undergraduate scholarships of $1000 and five graduate fellowships of $2500 each year. These awards are made to encourage and motivate promising undergraduate or graduate students to pursue a career and/or graduate program in electromagnetics (or closely related fields) by providing funds to support project work directed by a faculty member. Eligbiliw Undergraduate or graduate students in electrical engineering or related field. Undergraduates must have taken at least one electromagnetics course. Graduate students must have a curriculum with significant EM depth. Must show strong interest in a career or graduate education in electromagnetics, microwaves, antenna engineering, RF engineering, or a closely related area. Students doing or planning to do research or a project related to EM will receive preference. Endorsement of a universityicollege faculty member who is a member of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. Previous winners will not be eligible for a second award. Awardees are expected to provide a short report describing the outcomes of their project one year after receiving their funds. Selection Criteria (a) Merit of the candidate’s proposal. @) Academic merit of the candidate. (c) Recommendation of faculty advisor (who is a member of IEEE AP Society). The primary criterion will be how well the proposed project serves to introduce, prepare, and encourage the student to undertake a career andor graduate study in electromagnetics or related areas. Research or senior projects in electromagnetics with potential student publicatiodpresentation in a conference or journal are preferred. Students are encouraged to consult and work closely with a faculty member while preparing their proposals. Successhl candidates will be announced and will receive the award within sixty days of announcement.
