Identifying opportunities to reduce cesareans by achieving ACOG/SMFM recommendations in a statewide quality improvement effort

Abstract

The Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative (ILPQC) Promoting Vaginal Birth (PVB) quality improvement (QI) initiative aims to reduce nulliparous, singleton, term and vertex (NSTV) cesarean deliveries and increase the percent of cesareans meeting ACOG/SMFM labor management recommendations for cesarean indication (ACOG/SMFM Obstetric Care Consensus #1). The objective of this analysis is to identify key areas for improvement in meeting ACOG/SMFM recommendations and to assess early initiative progress.
