Abstract

In this work heat-affected zone (HAZ) generated during the cutting of Stainless steel (Grade 304) using plasma arc has been investigated. A lot of work has been reported in this field. However, no work has been reported regarding the identification of a suitable range of machining parameters. This research work aims to identify the suitable combination of cutting parameters pertaining to the minimum heat-affected zone while cutting the sheet. In order to investigate the process and dependency of input/output parameters, Response Surface Methodology (RSM) has been adopted. The obtained suitable machining zone has been verified by performing more experiments. From the results, it has been verified that the obtained zone is significant.
