Abstract
In this paper, the tribological properties of canarium Schweinfurthii shells reinforced polyester composites have been investigated experimentally. Wear tests were performed on a Pin-on-disk tribometer under dry sliding condition. Portable hardness tester TH110g and Charpy impact instrument have been used to perform hardness and Impact tests respectively. These specimens were designed based on 2 by 2 factorial design of experiments. New mathematical model was developed to predict the above parameters. The composite giving the optimum tribological performance is the one made up at 50 wt% with 315 µm particle size given hardness value of 232BHN, impact energy of 0.31 J, friction coefficient of 0.48 and wear rate of 0.0000276 g/m.
