Abstract

Background: The MNS blood group system antigens JENU and U are found on glycophorin B. Antibodies to these RBC antigens are reported to cause haemolytic transfusion reactions. When antibodies are identified in pretransfusion testing it is necessary to find antigen-negative RBC for transfusion. Currently there are no reagents for identification of antigen-negative cells for either of these antigens.
