Abstract
chiro -Inositol has been identified as a fat body and hemolymph constituent in the cockroach Periplaneta americana L. by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. This is the first time this inositol has been observed in animal tissues. chiro -Inositol was measured along with myo- and scyllo -inositols in the cockroach fat body and hemolymph by the mass spectrometric selective ion detection technique.
