Abstract

Objective: To understand the cognition and compliance rate of hand hygiene among ICU practice nurses in comprehensive hospital. Methods: Self-made questionnaire and hidden observation were conducted. Results: The knowledge about the time of hand washing, the hand disinfectant use and their indications existed some less cognition or miscognition among practice nurses in ICU. The compliance of hand hygiene before the practice nurses contact with patients was 71.4%, 70.3%, 65.4% and 55.6% respectively in ICU, NICU, PICU, RICU. The main factors affecting the hand hygiene performance were busy at work and reliable effect on using stream water for hand washing. Conclusions: It is necessary to strengthen the training, improve hand hygiene complianceso as to better control hospital infection when hand hygiene facilities are well equipped.
