Abstract

Scientific and technological innovations create new horizons in the teaching and learning process. In present time,our lives are totally influenced by Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The basic purpose of education is to prepare child to lead a successful life. Without the use of ICT it is impossible to survive and flourish in the further world.Therefore we can say that this current age is the information and communication technologies’age.The methods and techniques used by teachers, educators and students are different from the past. There is great change at which can be seen through schooling to electronic deschooling, from cognition to construction,from human being to machine,from local level to global, from classroom to virtual and from lose to open learning. It means that now the arena of teaching and learning process has widened and can not be limited to classroom instructions. Advancement in education through information and communication technology have opened new ways of learning for the youth, women, deprived classes and adults. So,it is high time to spread awareness about use of ICT based components and techniques. Changing educational practices with Information and Communication Technology is a fresh conception in Bangladesh. The National Education Policy-2010 suggests increasing the use of ICT as a teaching-learning tool. Unless education is set with the bias for scientific enquiry our capacity to develop science and technology, man power and infrastructure will remain low. The paper suggests the importance of scientific and ICT based components and techniques’ use in teaching-learning process than the traditional methods of classroom teaching. It also includes ICT policies and integration of ICT in education in Bangladesh.
