Abstract

Old age often involves major losses and challenges. In this article, I explore how an elderly man uses autobiographical writing as a tool for coping. Using the concepts of ontological breakdowns and poiesis, I explore how writing can be used to create continuity but also adjustment and new forms of being in the world.
