Abstract

The research was made on the basis of materials from the Bakhmeteff Archive of Columbia University and Anna Shepko private archive. The paper addresses the creative work of a bright representatives of the artistic environment of Kyiv and Kharkiv of the 1920s and 1930s. Provided information allows to trace a destiny of Ukrainian artists during the period of Great Terror. Mike Johansen’s and Mykhailo Boychuk’sletters to Alla Herburt-Johansen (exсept of a few quotes) are published for the first time. Fragments of correspondence by Alla Herburt-Johansen and Lubov Drazhevs`ka are also published for the first time. These materials are an invaluable source that depicts the artistic environment of Kharkiv and Kyiv during the 1920s–1930s.
