Abstract

Traditionally, the phallus has been considered a symbol of the life force, creativity, and immortality. However, beginning in the latter half of 2017, numerous scandals involving men in power accused of sexual assaults and improper sexual advances upon subordinates have reinforced the more modern association of the phallus as an assault weapon and symbol of death. The following is an attempt to reaffirm the image of the phallus as a life and creativity symbol, a view championed by C.G. Jung and his life-long fascination with the mythic figures known as the Cabiri and their associations with creativity and religious practices.
