Abstract

This paper aims at developing the analysis for the observation of hysteresis and jump phenomena in Reflex Klystron Oscillators (RKO) in the presence of synchronizing signal. The analysis takes into account the quadrature component of electron beam current apart from the in phase component, the quadrature phase component being responsible for producing asymmetry in the frequency response of the oscillator. This effect is not observed when the quadrature component is ignored like most previous authors. Power versus steady state amplitude characteristics has been explored along with the stability boundaries.
