Abstract

Of the range of voice disorders (dysphonia) seen by speech and language therapists, psychogenic voice disorders are among the most difficult to diagnose and to treat. This article raises diagnostic issues, discusses implications for treatment and compares the treatment of two patients with psychogenic dysphonia, one with hypnosis as part of the treatment programme.
