Abstract
Experimental measurements of high resolution emission spectra of neutral atomic iodine (I I) have been extended to cover the mid-infrared spectral regions (1800–6000 cm−1) using Fourier transform spectroscopy. A total of 354 spectral lines are reported here in the above spectral range. While the region between 3000 and 6000 cm−1 were recorded using a conventional quartz Electrodeless Discharge lamps (EDL), spectra in the region 1800–3000 cm−1 were detected using specially prepared EDLs with a CaF2 window. Hyperfine structure analysis has been carried out on 224 spectral lines, of which 176 are reported for the first time. The magnetic dipole constant (A) and electric quadrupole constant (B) have been derived for 97 energy levels.
