Hyperfine structure anisotropy at the iron in rare earth transition metal compounds

Abstract

57Fe Mössbauer measurements of the hfs anisotropy at the iron in GdFe 2 doped with Tb or Nd, and in LuFe 2 doped with Tb, are reported. The origin of the hfs anisotropy in the whole RFe 2 series is then discussed. An experiment on 57Fe doped NdCo 2 is also reported.
