Abstract
The magnitudes and signs of isotropic and anisotropic hyperfine (HF) fields and the magnitude of the electric field gradient (EFG) at the nuclei of diamagnetic Ga3+ ions in tetrahedral sites of lithium ferrite gallates Li0.5Fe2.5−xGaxO4 (0.01 ≦ x ≦ 0.65) have been determined from the analysis of low temperature Ga69.71 NMR spectra. The dependence of these fields upon the concentration x is discussed. The obtained value of EFG has been interpreted in terms of the ionic point-multipole model. The experimental and calculated values of EFG are in close agreement if the dipole polarizability of O2− ions is α = 0.64 Å3. The total contribution to EFG due to the covalency and overlap effects is evaluated. [Russian Text Ignored].
