Abstract

AbstractThe hyperfine fields in ferromagnetic rare‐earth alloys are discussed assuming that the impurity concentration affects only the transferred hyperfine field, the effects on the band susceptibility being assumed to be small. The slope of the hyperfine field versus average spin in these alloys can be analysed in terms of this model; intermetallic systems like GdxY1−xAl2 are also considered. It is observed that the dominant contribution to the magnetization is due to d electrons, whereas the hyperfine field slope arises mostly from the interaction with the s electrons.
