Abstract
The marine-derived fungus Wardomyces inflatus was isolated from the green alga Enteromorpha sp. Cultivation on a biomalt medium with added sea salt yielded an extract cytotoxic toward cancer cells. To date, we have isolated from this extract sclerosporin and four new hydroxylated sclerosporin derivatives, namely 8-hydroxy sclerosporin, 11-hydroxy sclerosporin, 12-hydroxy sclerosporin and 15-hydroxy sclerosporin. Sclerosporin is a rare antifungal and sporogenic cadinane-type sesquiterpene [1,2].
