Abstract

Knowledge of the ratio of hydrogen isotopes contributes to many research fields. We have developed an accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) method allowing simultaneous measurement of D/H and T/H ratios. We present a novel TiH2 sample preparation method suitable for the preparation of AMS targets and we describe the measurement technique developed with our in-house 300 kV AMS system at CIAE. We achieved a H+ transmission efficiency of 65 % and T/H measurement background of 2 × 10−15. Measurement of isotopic standard samples gave linear relationships between the measured and nominal values for both T/H and D/H.
