Abstract

Abstract The hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of dibenzothiophene (DBT) were performed over Ni-Mo, Co-Mo and Ni-W sulfides supported by siliceous MCM-41 (Si-MCM-41) or the proton-exchanged Si-MCM-41 (H + -MCM-41). It is indicated that the HDS activity and hydrogenation activity were dramatically improved for Ni-Mo and Ni-W sulfides when the support (Si-MCM-41) had been ion-exchanged by dilute HNO3 solution. However, the enhancement in activity was not significant for Co-Mo sulfide. It is suggested that both the acidic properties on MCM-41 surface and the nature of the active phase play important roles in the hydrogenation of DBT.
