Abstract
This paper describes the dynamic behavior of a hydro turbine (HT) speed control in the case of stochastic load variation. The nonlinear plant model is considered. The investigations are focused on the disturbance rejection algorithm. An adaptive disturbance observer augmented with an extra integral state is proposed. A control algorithm combines a PI state space controller and additional control signal that depends on the load estimate. The simulation results obtained from the both adaptive and conventional lead lag controllers are given. They show the advantages of the proposed adaptive disturbance rejection control system.
