Abstract

[1174669-67-0] C29H42N2Zn (MW 484.05) InChI = 1S/C29H41N2.Zn.H/c1-18(2)24-13-11-14-25(19(3)4)28(24)30-22(9)17-23(10)31-29-26(20(5)6)15-12-16-27(29)21(7)8;;/h11-21H,1-10H3;;/q-1;+1; InChI Key = DGAXZPRVXMLUAM-UHFFFAOYSA-N (metal complex; can be used for stoichiometric zincation reactions and as catalyst for hydrosilylation, hydroboration, or hydrogenation reactions). Alternative Names: zinc, [[N,N′-(1,3-dimethyl-1,3-propanediylidene)bis[2,6-bis(1-methylethyl)benzenaminato-κN]](1−)]hydro-; [[N,N′-(1,3-dimethyl-1,3-propanediylidene)bis[2,6-bis(1-methylethyl)benzenaminato-κN]](1−)]hydrozinc; DippBDIZnH; DippNacNacZnH. Physical Data: colorless crystals (often isolated as powder). Decomposes at temperatures above 150 °C (H2 release).1 Solubility: soluble in toluene, benzene, and THF; practically insoluble in n-hexane and n-pentane; incompatible with protic solvents (reacts by acidolysis). Preparative Methods: different methods have been reported in the literature,1–4 although similar strategies were employed, entailing metalation of the β-diketiminate ligand followed by addition of a hydride source to the β-diketiminate-supported Zn-halide or -siloxide complex. Purification: can be recrystallized from toluene at low temperature. Handling, Storage, and Precautions: highly air- and moisture-sensitive compound. Needs to be stored in a glove box under inert atmosphere (N2 or Ar). When stored at low temperature (glove box freezer, −35 °C), the compound is stable for years. All manipulations require inert atmosphere and anhydrous solvents.
