Abstract

The coupling of novel ZnFe2O4/Ag2S was successfully synthesized via the wet chemical method. The photocatalytic activity of the catalyst was checked with the degradation of methylene blue dye. The photocatalytic activity showed 90 % efficient removal of methylene blue over ZnFe2O4/Ag2S heterojunction, thus giving brief that doping the material with a transition metal chalcogenide enhances the material. Moreover, antibacterial and antibiofilm activity was carried out for checking the inhibition efficiency and stability of the nanocomposite against gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and gram-negative Escherichia coli. The presence of active radical in the photodegradation system was identified and a probable mechanism was developed.
