Abstract

This paper investigates the problem of designing a hybrid sliding mode observer for mode identification and actuator fault reconstruction, applicable for a class of linear switching systems. For each operating mode constituting the whole system, only one observer is doomed to accomplish the two aforementioned tasks in the presence of exogenous disturbances. The method uses [Formula: see text] concept in the design of the sliding motion so that the effect of uncertainties on the residuals generation for mode recognition and on the reconstruction of the actuator faults will be minimized. Simulation results highlight the efficiency and the effectiveness of the proposed method.
