Abstract
This paper discusses our ongoing research efforts in regards to processing hybrid queries in service-oriented environments. A hybrid query is a query over traditional datasets in conjunction with streaming data and that may also involve spatio-temporal aspects. In our context, all data sources are available as services, which we refer to as data providers. We present an approach based on applying service composition techniques to data providers along with traditional and streaming database operators. Such an approach results in query evaluation plans which, complemented by optimization and adaptation mechanisms, will enable flexible query processing and data integration among a diverse range of data sources in dynamic environments.
