Abstract
An ultra-wideband (1.5–40 GHz) hybrid electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) configuration with a reduced size novel unit cell structure having multiple narrow slits has been designed, fabricated and tested. The hybrid EBG is created by cascading 2×2 low-frequency unit cells with 4×4 high-frequency unit cells. This hybrid EBG structure shows better noise suppression and isolation over −60 dB on average in the ultra-wide stopband (10–40 GHz) and better than 50 dB in the low-frequency band (1.5–10 GHz).
