Abstract

We describe a computer-optical processing system that uses an inexpensive liquid crystal (LCD) television monitor and a selective holographic filter for coherent pattern recognition. Specifically, we use a digital computer to generate an edge enhanced image of an object, expose a Fourier transform hologram of this image, and use the hologram as a sort of matched filter for recognizing the original object in real time.© (1987) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
