Abstract

Hy.al.an' gi.um . Gr. fem. n. hyalos glass; Gr. neut. n. angion vessel, container; M.L. neut. n. Hyalangium glassy vessel. Proteobacteria / Deltaproteobacteria / Myxococcales / Cystobacteraceae / Hyalangium Vegetative cells are delicate, slender rods with tapering ends. Fruiting bodies consist of small spherical sporangioles that are often empty and then look glassy and transparent , arranged in extended, dense sheets, or often, in chains. Myxospores are short rods or irregularly spherical ; optically refractile. Swarm colonies with a thin but tough slime sheet with fine veins, adsorbs Congo red with a purple red color. Of the proteolytic–bacteriolytic nutritional type. Type species : Hyalangium minutum sp. nov .
